Induction Program for Commerce Students
Induction program was conducted on 25th July, 2025 at room no. 12, commerce department. Dr. Ravinder Kumar (Head, Commerce Department) extended a warm welcome to the Principal, Dr. Sanjeev Kumar, all faculty members, and the newly admitted B.Com 1st Year students. He emphasized that choosing the Commerce stream was an excellent decision, highlighting its significant value in today's world with immense job opportunities in both government and private sectors. Dr. Anuj Kumar, share detailed information on Scholarship Schemes, Prof. Santosh explanation of CBCS, Dr. Shivendra Sangar informed students about the Rover and Ranger, Dr. Anuj provided details about NSS, Dr. Balbir Singh enlightened students about NCC, Ms. Ruma gave a detailed presentation on the college library, explaining how students can effectively utilize its resources. Principal Dr. Sanjeev Kumar assured students that the college would provide an excellent academic environment. At the end of event, Dr. Sunita delivered the vote of thanks, marking the conclusion of the induction meeting.
Interactive Session for Commerce Students
An interactive session was conducted among the Commerce students of VGC Mandi with the students of Government College of Arts, Science and Commerce, Sanquelim, Goa, in Room No. 208 on 12th December 2025. Dr. Sanjeev Kumar, Principal of VGC Mandi, welcomed the students and professors to this session. Dr. Kumar highlighted the objectives of the session. Prof. Seema Rath, Head of the PG Department and Research Centre in Goa, shared her experience on cultural aspects.
Banking Awareness Program
The commerce department of VGC Mandi organized seminar on employment in banking sectors in collaborating with Mandi branch of Bank of Baroda on IBPS, PO for commerce students. The seminar aimed to encourage students exposure to opt career in banking sector. It covered various topics related to the IBPS PO exam, including eligibility criteria, exam pattern, and syallabus and preparation tips. The seminar also included a session on interview skills. The seminar was well attended by students who were eager to learn more about IBPS PO exam. The resource person from Bank of Baroda provided valuable insights and guidance to the students. It was a positive step towards encouraging students to pursue career opportunities for qualified candidates. With the increasing demands for skilled banking professionals, the IBPS PO Exam is a great way for students to enter the Banking Sector.
International Conference
A two-day international conference in hybrid mode on the topic “Towards a Global and Multidisciplinary Understanding of Spirituality and Science in the Contemporary World" was organised by the Department of Commerce & the Department of Music, Vallabh Government College Mandi (H.P), in collaboration with Pratibha Spandan Society, Shimla (H.P) on 23-24 February 2024 in the college campus.
Induction Program for Commerce Students
Induction program conducted for students of B.Com 1st year and M.Com 1st Sem on 14th August, 2024 at conference hall in college library. The meeting commenced with a warm welcome address by Dr. Ravinder Kumar, Head of the Commerce Department. He expressed his delights welcoming the new batch of students and highlighted the significance of this Induction Program. Following the welcome address, Dr. Ravinder Kumar provided a comprehensive overview of the various facilities available on campus, including the library, scholarship office, administrative office, and bank. He also shared information about the college's rules and regulations.Subsequently, all the faculty members of the Commerce Department were introduced to the students. This provided an opportunity for students to interact with their teachers and seek further clarifications
Teacher's Day
Teacher's Day celebrations organised on 5th September, 2024 at Room No. 12 in Commerce Department.
Workshop
Commerce Department successfully organized Entrepreneurship Awareness program on 28 and 29 August, 2024. The workshop was formally inaugurated by Ms. Surina Sharma, principal of Vallabh Government College Mandi on 28-08-2024. Resource persons of the day was welcomed by Dr. Ravinder Kumar, Head of Commerce Department. Dr. Anuj Kumar, Dr. Ritesh Verma, Dr. Balbir, Dr.Santosh and Dr. Sunita, all faculty of Commerce Department were present for the inaugural function. Dr. Ritesh Verma spoke about two-day program and read the profiles of speakers and introduced speakers to the participants. The main objective of this workshop was to create awareness among students about various facets of Entrepreneurship as a career option. The idea of organizing this workshop was to inculcate the key concepts of Entrepreneurship among students. 206 students from Different Departments participated in the workshop.
Memorandum of Understanding (MoU)
Vallabh Goverment College Mandi,Department of Commerce signed a memorandum of understanding dated 11th September 2025 with Pratibha Spandan Society, Shimla, to promote mutual cooperation in academic and research activities. The main areas of cooperation are the joint organization of joint research programs, conferences, seminar, workshop, training and symposia, as well as faculty exchange programs, student exchange programs, research exchange programs, and the exchange of knowledge resources. On this occasion, the agreement was signed by the Principal of VGC Mandi Dr. Sanjeev Kumar with the President of the organization, Dr. Nirmal Singh, Dr. Ravinder Kumar, Head, Dr. Anuj Kumar, Dr. Balbir Singh( General Secretary )of Pratibha Spandan Society, Shimla (H.P).
